Eli Wolfe

He’s a real down to earth character, has long golden hair and a voice like Eddie Vedder.  In this interview with Eli Wolfe we talk about his philosophy on music and life on the road.  In 2010 he did an 8 month tour which totaled 80 shows around regional Australia,  I put it to him that he’s a bit of a hippie and his answer may surprise you.

Tales in Space

Tales in Space have just launched their second EP – ‘Ghost in the Room’ and to celebrate they’ll be bringing their electro-pop sounds to the Annandale.

Luke and Simon (AKA Pieman) came in for a chat about their sound, production and future.  Luke is a producer and has done a lot of work on Art vs Science’s up-coming release so it was clear to see where TIS get their highly produced sound from.

Betty Airs

What do you get when you combine the guitarist of grunge turn experimental band turn one man DJ, with 2 parts of a heavy rock/metal band?

The last thing you would think is a 50’s sounding happy pop trio, right?… Well that’s exactly what happened when the Betty Airs formed.  Darren (Gerling, the E.L.F) and Michael (Run! Hide!) came into the studio to chat about their new single, ‘Reverse Now’ and how this seemingly incongruous match fit perfectly.

Sierra Fin

Who records a debut record with a symphony orchestra?

Sierra Fin, of course.  These guys have been kicking ‘round the local scene for a while and have finally saved up enough coin to release their debut record in early ‘11.

I caught up with the lead singer, Russ and got the chance to preview this release, produced by none other than Paul McKercher.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

It feels like only yesterday Ed Sharpe and his large band of Magnetic Zeroes were one of the favourites to take out the 2009 Hottest 100 with their track ‘Home’.

They’re now in the country doing a run of shows and I caught up with Alex and Jade to find out the real meaning of ‘Home’ and how Alex is taking some of the flack he’s been copping..

Broadcast on Friday Breakfast, 2ser, 107.3 – September 10 2010

Laura Imbruglia

Laura Imbruglia is a pretty straight shooter… she walked into the interview and I immediately felt like we were on the same page.  I was really looking forward to this interview because I love the new album, “The Lighter Side of…” which I was to find out was a taste of Laura’s dry sense of humor – despite the country vibe, the album is actually pretty heavy.

It’s a big contrast to her first album… so does this mean Laura’s found her sound?

Broadcast Friday Breakfast, 2ser, 107.3 – April 10 2010

Field Music

Field Music are the brother combination of David and Peter Brewis, from Sunderland, England.  Both members have played in other bands such as Maximo Park and The Futureheads but they got back together in this capacity to record the bands third record, ‘Measure’.

I caught up with Peter; one half of Field Music, to have a chat about the new album and just how hard it was to make.

Broadcast on the Tuesday Daily on 2ser 107.3

Numbers Radio

Brisbane band Numbers Radio have been killing it recently with their track ‘Come On’ from their debut EP, receiving high rotation on the j’s.  They’ve just put out a full length album and have proven they’re anything but one hit wonders – 14 tracks in total with chunky, heavy riffs as well as lighter spots to come up for air.

I caught up with their bassist, Robbie Carlyon, back stage at their recent Annandale show and was surprised to find out the band originally formed out of the ashes of a funk band…
