Rick was born deaf in one ear and had a rough time at school. At 15 he started work at a bakery. The pressures of young adulthood got to him and he soon found himself in a dark place.

But he persevered. And the decision to return to his challenges would become a recurring theme in his incredible life story. 

Many good times would come but much heartache as well.
