How to increase the quality of iPhone voice memo recordings

By default, the iPhone records voice memos in M4A (audio only MPEG 4).

You can increase the quality of the recording in the Voice Memo settings.

If you are working with M4A file type you might struggle to import it to your software (DAW). To solve this, you can convert it to .wav before you import by using software such as iTunes, VLC, or Handbrake.

Final note, .wav is uncompressed, meaning there’ll be more information within the file and therefore, each file will take up more space on your phone.

1. Go to settings

2. Click on Voice Memos

3. Click on Audio Quality

4. Change to Lossless
