What to expect at the live show (Who gives a fork?)

I’m currently touring a live audio storytelling show through Europe (and later Melbourne and Sydney).

People jumping up to perform audio documentaries live is not a common thing, so I thought I’d share a bit more about what to expect.

Firstly what it’s not. It’s not ‘recording a podcast episode live’. It’s not a chat show where someone is interviewed on stage. It’s not a monologue or a comedy routine and the format is not based on any existing podcast

Instead, the show is three distinct audio documentaries. The documentaries (or stories) are produced with edited interviews, original music and field recordings. The deconstructed stories are then played out live, with live narration gluing it all together.

The stories are produced in my style – irreverent, uniquely Australian, high production values. Listen to something here to get a feel for my work.

The show runs for 55 minutes.

Here’s a bit of a preview of each story:

Who gives a fork?

Every day, hungry office workers across Australia open empty cutlery drawers. I investigate why this is happening. Where are all the forks going?

Waiting for a train

When a family holiday doesn’t go to plan the patriarch improvises an activity with mixed results.

The Legend of the Gorilla

A bricklayer from Perth, Western Australia takes an unconventional approach to fulfilling his dream of becoming a famous author.

Most shows will also feature a local support. The style of these acts will vary but I guarantee they’ll be entertaining.

Look forward to catching you at a show soon!
